The Sports Authority of India (SAI), a successor organization of the IXth Asian Games held in New Delhi in 1982, was set up as a Society registered under Societies Act, 1860 in pursuance of the Resolution No. 1-1/83/SAI dated 25th January 1984 of the Department of Sports, Govt. of India with the objective of promotion of Sports and Games as detailed in the Resolution.
SAI NERC conducts training camps in different sport disciplines, provides sports facilities at its utmost level to create prospects of winning medals at the International level for India. The centre implements and monitors SAI Sports Promotional Schemes in the states of Manipur, Nagaland, & Mizoram.
Vision: SAI NERC is implementing & monitoring various schemes of Sports Authority of India at sub-junior, junior, and senior levels, namely SAI Training Centres to achieve excellence at national and international levels. It has also set up a Centre of Excellence for elite sportspersons. To promote sports on a single discipline basis. Scientific training processes have been set up to attract sports talents in the respective sports discipline in different age categories.
SAI NERC implements schemes that envisage modern training centres having state-of-the-art sports facilities, equipment, requisite sports science infrastructure as well as qualified personnel to meet the daily requirement of the trainees.
